Camping Trends for 2021

By Hari Seddon Feb 04, 2021

With international travel predicted to be off the menu for the vast majority of 2021, there’s no wonder that an increase in camping is predicted for this year as people make the best of staying in the country.

According to the UK Camping Trends Report 2021 compiled by CoolCamping.com, there are a number of trends we can predict based on the analysis of the thousands of bookings and enquiries handled on their site.

Cool Camping is one of the most trusted names in the industry, as a multi award winning bookings website and the creator of a series of guidebooks. We trust they know their stuff and you can too!

The top 3 spots this year are predicted as:

  1. The Lake District
  2. The New Forest
  3. Cornwall

So if you’re interested in heading to any of those areas for your staycation then you’ll not want to dither on the booking or you risk missing out.

The most popular accommodation types predicted:

  1. A simple pitch spot
  2. A pitch with electricity
  3. A bell tent!

That’s right- the most popular glamping booking for 2021 is set to be a bell tent- and it’s extremely likely to be a Lotus Belle Tent at that.

The popular additional glamping features predicted:

  1. A hot tub
  2. Dog friendly
  3. ‘En Pitch’ private toilets

Which means similarly, like the location predictions, if you want any of the features mentioned, you should get booking now. CoolCamping note that there’s likely to be an increase of private toilets in the aftermath of Covid, which will come as a relief for some! (Pun intended)

If you’re dog lovers like us, then you’ll be interested to know the top 3 dog friendly campsites according to the booking data on CoolCamping from 2020:

  1. Baystone Bank Farm Campsite
  2. Celtic Camping and Bunkhouses
  3. Knoll Farm Campsite

The average length of the glamping or camping holiday is predicted at 2 -3 nights, with the average glamping price for this being around £480, and for traditional camping around £186.

With increased demand we think it’s fair to predict that peak times will come at a premium, so we urge you to get booking as soon as possible, because as soon as Spring properly arrives the flurry of booking will happen in earnest!
