An unexpected silver lining of the pandemic for the UK camping and glamping industries, (local restrictions notwithstanding) has been a massive increase in bookings for the 2021 season.
Many mainstream news outlets were warning as early as last August that the most popular spots would be fully booked by January. (We also wrote a blog about it in October), and with holiday makers eyeing the permitted countries list with no small amount of confusion around changing rules and requirements, international travel is off the menu for the majority of Brits this summer.
With so many people in need of a break - and with pent up demand from a somewhat subdued summer last year - we’re seeing many sites confirm limited or no availability until September. We’re delighted that many small businesses are getting the opportunity to regain ground after so many months of closure, and what ground to recover!
According to Frankie Lyons, a Senior Manager at KC communications, there are around 49,500 internet searches with the terms ‘UK Holidays’ every month, plus around 22,200 for ‘Staycations’.
Lyons said that “Now is the perfect time for smaller, independent travel businesses to showcase their offering and take advantage of the booming staycation market. They may never have an opportunity like this again to really show the amazing holidays Brits can take at home .”
If you’re still considering doing a pop up glampsite or starting a private glamping hire business for the summer, you’re a looking for a way to create a bit more space at your existing site, or you want to create a gorgeous escape in your garden - we have some small availability left for orders but you’ll need to get in there quick! Get in touch and we can discuss your needs.
